More often than not, tipsters, readers, friends and family of Eater ask us: Where should I eat right now? What are the new restaurants? What haven't I heard of? What's everyone talking about? And while the Eater 38 is a crucial resource covering old standbys and neighborhood essentials across the city, it is not a chronicle of the 'it' places of the moment. Thus, we offer the Eater Heatmap, which will change continuously to always highlight where the foodie crowds are flocking to at the moment.
Coming onto the map this month: The Company Burger's new location in the Paramount Building, and tiny, but awesome Cuban sandwich spot El Libre in the French Quarter. To make way for new spots, the Heatmap sadly loses Brown Butter, Sac-A-Lait, Rebellion and Balise.
The brainchild of Besh Group chefs Kelly Fields and Lisa White, Willa Jean (named for Fields' grandmother) offers not only pastries and coffee, but a full service experience with sandwiches, hot plates, soups, a full bar (with coffee and tea based cocktails and a slushie machine) and of course plated desserts.
